Blessing of Civil Partnerships

This was a major issue at the General Assembly of 2006,
coming out of a report and deliverances from the Legal Questions Committee.

Foward Together members were prominent in their opposition to this innovation.

During that debate a motion to ban such blessings was lost by only 8 votes.

The Assembly then decided that the issue was innovative
and should be sent down to Presbyteries under the Barrier Act.

The final results of Presbytery votes are:

For: 9

Against: 36

We give thanks to God that he has spoken very clearly to his church
and that the church has overwhelmingly agreed to reject this Overture.
